Explore Sekinchan—a small farming and fishing village just north of Kuala Lumpur—and see how paddy field crops are harvested, processed, and packed. After a tasty seafood lunch make your way to Kuala Selangor, home of the famous lighthouse at Fort Altingsburg.
Start your day with pickup from your central Kuala Lumpur hotel and follow your guide as you travel 59 miles (95 km) northwest of the city center. Enjoy views of palm trees along the coastal road before you reach the fishing and farming hamlet of Sekinchan.
Upon arrival, take in the gorgeous view of the verdant paddy fields and if you are lucky, spot migratory birds from Sumatra soaring through the air. Then, head to a local restaurant to feast on a delicious seafood lunch (at your own expenses). In Sekinchan, originally a fishing village, you can guarantee your lunch is freshly prepared from the best produce in the area.
After lunch make your way to Kuala Selangor, about a 30-minute drive away. Visit Melawati Hill, famously the home of mischievous and mysterious silvered leaf monkeys, a primate of the Old World monkeys. Before enjoy a fireflies show at the evening time, learn about local history at Fort Altingsburg, built by the state ruler to defend the city from foreign invasion, and admire the renowned lighthouse.
